I had to listen to your mix end-to-end after looking at the tracklisting. Starting with Teena Marie shows some sophistication - mixing that phat bassline on top of it from Ja Rule demonstrates absolute confidence: it is a brave and brilliantly executed mood change that most DJs strive for.
I have to admit that I'm not a big fan of new school west coast RnB (if that's the name of the genre at all :-) with vocoders and stuff since there's so much junk playing around: you do pick the good tracks with 3 and 5.
And then there's LSOB, classics again. Plus Method Man, how cool. I don't like Jay-Z that much either but this Shai track with the fat groove makes me reconsidering.
Ms. Jackson just never gets boring. Loved the "Put The Needle On The Record" sample in the City High track (I'm a big M.A.R.R.S. fan). Letoya ft. Ludacris - sounds like Common, is that Ludacris? Cool...
I won't even go on (Sade as an end? Real classy and fits the whole sound of the mix) - boy, you know your RnB, there is a lot to learn from you, keep up the good work! Thanks for sharing this masterpiece, goes straight into my MixBag!
