It's spring: part of me is still shivering in winter chill, part is beginning to trust in the warmth … but which is real? I'm of two minds about it all, sorta like this mix -- just as the first song can't make up its lyrical mind whether the object of attention is proper or not, I can't make up my mind either: play or fade … double-down or freeze … make a move or wait it out? After all, every choice has something to recommend it, otherwise it never would've registered as a choice. But you know you can't have it both ways and if you want the real, you'll have to let go of the possibilities. Then again, as long as you don't demand reality, you can enjoy whatever you can imagine. No need to choose, no need to settle. So which is better, reality or fantasy? Well, you know, I'm of two minds about that as well ….
The blog "Said the Gramaphone" got me started on this one with their James Blake pere et fils post, although in the end, the demands of flow won out over the "high concept" of including both tracks … full write up on the selections complete with shouts at http://www.beatconscious.org -- all on the home page.
