What a great tracklist again! I only recognized Dzihan, Atjazz, Living Room, Belugas at the first quick glance but that was enough to see the sophistication here again.
Track 1 is a surprise, tabla and sitar with a funk groove backround - typical Mo'Horizon sound, it also reminds of Thievery, I belive that track is called "Indra". No sour feeling here though of trying to emulate another song, it's great on its own, the flute solo at the end is an even bigger surprise, I need to get this one badly!
Dzihan: do they have a new album? I did not know this song - I feel so ashamed since they one are my favourites. With a little research it turns out that this is from the "Fakes" album which I have somewhere but I concluded that it was mostly a reissue of some of their remixes and other songs I had anyhow. What a fatal mistake! Shame that I missed this, have to go back and look for some other hidden gems there.
Track 3 is quite pscyhedelic for me with the nice mellow strings, 4hero style again.
Bit more upbeat bossa nova sound from Karma, you like the percussive thread in this whole mix, I can see that! Nice harmonic transition to Club Belugas - this is also a more atmospheric one, not the typical swinging nu jazz Belugas sound.
Track 6 is like Bebel Gilberto, nice vocal - however the beat is fresh and dope here, it's an excellent downtempo fusion jazz - just what I like. Spring and summer freshness here - it's breezin'! Got to get this one too!
I might have confused the Living Room with the Dining Rooms - I don't believe I've heard the Living Room before. I'd like to know where you get all these nice mellow latin infused jazzy downtempo tracks, I need to be a regular at that shop!
Interesting how you get a bit more hardcore with Track 10 - Atjazz can be hit and miss sometimes, a few great tracks and remixes but a lot of electro trash as well. This is one of the great ones of course - the hardcore bass and the nervous drum groove is a nice counterpoint to the soul vibes on top.
Paradise Garage is an awesome title to close a set, nothing to do with house however I'm sure it's some sort of tribute (I also mentioned the late Larry Levan around my latest Spotlight mix) Interesting sound with a marching beat, quite headnodding, bit like Ninja Tune, Funki Porcini or Herbalizer. Again, it has a good ending, you probably thought about it, it's not just letting the breakbeat go and then stop.
I certainly hear that you put a lot of work into the track selection, you have really high stadards since there is no mistake here! I'd be interested to hear what was left out, with this hight quality I believe the leftover is quite prime cut material...
Keep it up, you're also on a Lounge Crusade! Looking forward to your next mission!
