Biography
I mix using software, running two laptops through a mixer. This way I can mix between the two or individually using a dual soundcard to preview and cue the next tune. When I play out, I do this live – no pre-mixing shenanigans. I also don't use any auto beat-mixing because it never works, I do it manually. DJing using software is controversial, especially when it comes to beat-mixing. It can provoke derision and even contempt in some circles. To be honest, I am in awe of anyone who uses vinyl and CD because I know how hard it is and how much skill is involved. I have the utmost respect for the vinyl/CD junkies, but I also respect the DJs that spin digital music. It’s all about the music and it shouldn’t matter how it’s created – as long as it moves you and makes you move.
